Archery
The clout shoot from Triumphe II makes a Triumphant return, but with a twist. Using longbows or recurves, archers may test their skill, memory, and speed in a Yeoman shoot that's sure to please.
Archers who wish to participate are asked to bring at least 10 arrows.
(No bow? No arrows? No problem! Loaner equipment will be available!)

Arts and Sciences
The Arts & Sciences competition for Mooneschadowe's Triumphe III will be a judged competition using the Ansteorran Judging Forms currently available via the Kingdom website. There is no theme for the competition, but documentation is required. Entries may be one single item or a combination of relevant/related items. Please note on the judging forms when entering your piece(s) what you wished to have judged. Judges usually consist of Laurels, Apprentices, and experts in given fields who are in attendance the day of the event. We try very hard to match judges based on subject of the entry.
In addition to the judged competition, a populace vote tally will also be held. The top three vote getters in the populace competition will receive a prize in honor of our Third Triumphe.

Children’s Artisan:
This will be a judged Arts and Sciences competition. Children are encouraged to enter as many pieces as they like. Documentation is encouraged, but not required. This is a wonderful opportunity to receive constructive feedback about your art and to show others what you have been working on.

Bardic
Mooneschadowe Minstrel of the Eclipse Competition:
The Minstrel competition consists of two rounds, with a potential third finalist round as needed. If there are a large number of entrants the judges may make cuts after the first round.
The bards will be expected to perform two pieces, one of which needs to allow for audience participation in order to be considered for the Title. (These do not have to be sing-along. You can get creative!)
Varying forms are encouraged but not required.
Group performances are welcome!
Aside from the Minstrel title, recognition is also given to quality pieces in a variety of forms (song, story, poem, oratory, instrumental, group, etc….) as determined appropriate by the judges.

Children’s Minstrel:
The children’s minstrel competition will consist of one round. Each entrant will perform one piece no more than five minutes in length. This competition is open to all performers under the age of 18 and does not exclude one from participating in the Minstrel of the Eclipse competition.

Chivalric Fighting
Friday Night Bastard Sword Tournament
------------------------------------
In Honor of Don Benedict Ashton, Mooneschadowe sponsors a bastard sword tournament late Friday night. This tournament will either be a round-robin tournament if we have a small number of combatants, or a single elimination tournament if there are a large number (i.e. over 10 fighters). The only weapon allowed in this tournament will be bastard sword. Last year's winner, Centurion Angus Gunn and his Lady Elodie will run the tournament. The prize for the tournament is a pass down SCA legal bastard sword carried by Don Benedict.

Guardian of the Eclipse Tournament
------------------------------------
Mooneschadowe continues its popular Guardian tournament. As in years past, the tournament will consist of two portions. The first portion of the tournament will be a Swiss five tournament, with proscribed weapon styles, to be announced the day of the tournament. After the first portion, the fighters who had the best win-loss records in the first portion of the tournament will be invited to compete the second portion of the tournament. The second portion will be a single elimination tournament with fighter's choice for weapon styles. The fighter who emerges victorious will be our third Guardian of the Eclipse.

Sunday's New Fighter Tournament
------------------------------------
The new fighter's tournament will be a round-robin tournament, weapon's styles TBD. Entrance into the tournament is limited to fighter's who've been authorized for less than two years, or any fighter who does not mind saying he or she *LOST* the new fighters tournament. A nice prize is being provided by Sieur Jean Paul.

Light Fighting
The Insegnante tournament is a unique, and if we may say so, highly period form of competition, and one highly treasured by Mooneschadowe and the other groups of the North.
Now in its fourteenth year, each Insegnante is chosen not by the number of wins nor some sort of bracketing system, but instead by the selection of his or her fellows on the field as well as those who have given their time to make the competition happen.
In brief, a secret ballot is held at the conclusion of the morning's fighting and the next Insegnante is chosen. As Insegnante means teacher, we encourage those voting to select amongst them the one who best embodied the ideal of a fencing teacher -- not only fighting skill, but patience, wit, style, honor, and all the other attributes one would seek in a fencing master.
The format of the morning's fighting is generally fairly loose, typically consisting of several rounds of pairings; just bring all your toys to play, and we will endeavor to present some challenges to not only entertain you but push you to display your best that you might join the ranks of the Insegnantes of Mooneschadowe.
